Rules and Posting Guidelines

The rules are pretty basic and common sense, but you still have to read them before you post! I'll try to make this as short as possible. Here they are, under a cut.

Things marked with *** are mandatory reading.

GENERAL GUIDELINES*** | POSTING GUIDELINES*** | POSTING TEMPLATES | HOW TO TAG POSTS***

[GENERAL GUIDELINES]***

Always be kind and courteous to fellow members. If any of the mods see bullying, harrassment, racism, sexism, queerphobia, or anything of that sort, we will first issue a warning in the form of a comment. If the behaviour persists, you will be permanently banned from the community. However, the mods are not all-seeing, and we will need your help to prevent harrassment. If you see any kind of harrassment, please PM or contact one of the mods( [personal profile] fritzier, [personal profile] becksbarrett, [personal profile] rigby, [personal profile] zeekubeast) and we'll get back to you ASAP.

Please, under no circumstances is anyone going to fight about shipping. Let people ship whatever they want, but if you are going to get on somebody's case about the pairing of their choice, let it go. Just let it go, it's not worth it. It's okay to not like things, but don't be a dick about it. Of course, discussion may still be had, but there will be absolutely no name-calling or any bullying done over ships, of all things. This applies to any sort of personal, subjective preference.

On that note, any sort of unreasonable discussion (re: wank) will not be tolerated. Don't get into fights in public. It doesn't reflect well on the community, and it certainly does not reflect well on the fandom as a whole. Remember: bad behaviour stands out much more than good behaviour.

Absolutely no "trolling" or spamming the community with irrelevancy. Any user caught doing this will be issued one warning, and if not complied with, banned. This means no hoaxes, spoilering, causing wank, etc.

ALWAYS GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE.

NEVER POST SOMETHING UNLESS YOU MADE IT YOURSELF, OR UNLESS YOU HAVE EXPRESS PERMISSION TO DO SO.

When creating graphics/icons, always credit the original artist if it's from fanart, etc. If the artist does not have a stated policy on using their artwork, please obtain permission from them before using.

[POSTING GUIDELINES]***

Please refrain from posting gratuitous amounts of sparkletext or GIFs. If you absolutely must use these, please place all GIFs larger than 250px in height under a cut! Make sure you only have one or two GIFs that aren't under a cut, and to please warn in the subject heading for epileptic/fast-moving GIFs.

When posting art or graphics, please limit yourself to a preview image no taller than 400px in height, with the full image or rest of the images under a cut!

When posting art/graphics/icons, please make sure to host your files on IMGUR or any permanent/limitless site (ie: tumblr) in order to prevent broken images. Photobucket and TinyPic are not good for these sorts of things.

Check your posts for triggery content. If any of your posts contain the following themes/content, place a trigger warning in bold before any other content, and to place the triggery material below a cut.

-rape
-abuse
-explicit violence
-gore
-pedophilia
-animal cruelty

Use common sense. This is not a complete list, but if you feel that you have to warn, it is better to be safe than sorry.

If you have a Rather Long Post (ie: fanfic, massive essay, etc), please make sure to put that under a cut, also! Just leave enough to summarize what's in your post, and place the rest under a cut.

Check the posting templates below for how to format your fanfiction!

[POSTING TEMPLATES]

Just follow this general format when posting your fanfiction. Make sure to place your fic under a dreamwidth cut. You may choose to leave excerpts or the first paragraph above the cut.

Example:
Title: Five Times X and Y did Z, and One Time They Didn't
Character(s)/Pairing(s): X/Y
Warning(s): Contains necrophilia.
Wordcount: 120941
Rating: NC-17
Summary: huaaAAARRgRGRGHhrhrhhhh

(And here is where you snip-snip, unless you'd like to leave a small excerpt above the snip-snip.)

[HOW TO TAG POSTS]***

DO NOT create your 'own' tags for posts. Sorry, you are not allowed to keymash asldgjadfgsif; in the tags, but you are allowed to do it in the body of the post. This is just to help keep things organized.

This is the list of tags that should be used for posting different types of entries. If there's something you're not sure about, please comment on this entry and I will try to deal with it as soon as possible.

GENERAL CHARACTER & PAIRING TAGS

ALL fanworks, discussions, etc MUST be tagged with these tags.

character: firstname lastname

For example, anything with Mike in it would be tagged as character: mike chilton
The pairing Mike/Chuck would be tagged as pairing: chuck/mike

FANFICTION

All fanfiction must be tagged with #fic. All fanfiction must be tagged with character tags and pairing tags.

All fanfiction must be tagged with the pairing in alphabetical order. For example, the pairing tag for Mike/Chuck would be pairing: Chuck/Mike. If the pairing tag does not exist for your specific pairing, just make sure your have the pairing in the summary and the mods will get on it as soon as possible. If there is no pairing, please use the tag genre: gen

All fanfiction must also be tagged with the fanfiction pairing tag: fic: pairing, i.e.: fic: chuck/mike.

All fanfiction must be tagged with the character tags, fic: name of character. For example, any fic featuring Julie would be tagged with fic: julie kane.

Last names will only be used when they are confirmed. Otherwise, it is a first-name basis only.

All fanfiction must be tagged with the wordcount tags. In order of size:

All fanfiction should be tagged with basic genres. More will be added as we go on, but please try to keep important details such as type of AU, any specific kinks i guess, etc, in the fic description.

Format of genre tag: genre: whatever

List of genres:

Femmeslash
Gen
Het
Hurt/Comfort
Romance
Humour
Genderbend
Crack
Historical

If you would like other genres, etc. to be added, please leave a comment!

FANART

All fanart must be tagged with #fanart

All fanart must be tagged with the character tags. The character tag for fanart is art: firstname lastname. For example, any piece of fanart featuring Chuck would be tagged with art: chuck

All fanart must also be tagged with the pairing tag for art, art: pairing. For example, art: dutch/texas.

Do not use any genre tags, sorry! Those are reserved for fic posts. (Like to keep things neat, and fanart generally does not require a genre tag.)

Other Forms of Fanworks

All fanvids are to be tagged as #fanvid, along with the character/pairing tags for fanvids: vid: charactername , vid: pairing i.e.: vid: dutch/texas

MISCELLANY

Discussion posts are to be tagged as #discussion

If the focus is not on a character or a pairing, tag your post as #motorcity

Livestreams are to be tagged as #livestream, and are only to be used at least 2 days ahead of the streaming time, in order to provide time for people to come, etc.

IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE TAGGING INSTRUCTIONS, PLEASE DO NOT TAG THE ENTRY YOURSELF. The mods will be able to get around to it eventually.
